  Quality food, great service.
  I have gotten the fish tacos, carnitas, chicken mole, and the grilled chicken cooked to order worth the seventeen minutes, which I highly recommend.The portions are just right not too big, not too small. The price reflects the great quality, mostly if not all organic food.
   As far as drinks go margaritas are delicious, all fresh ingredients, ie fresh lime juice. I got one of the smoky ones once too and it was very lovely.  The flavors are elegant and pack a punch at the same time. The decor is cute and the outdoor fire pit is a bonus with blankets for the colder nights. They have a  simple wine list with exquisite wines.
  
  The atmosphere is attractive, cozy and great for a date night or get together.  The service is great and the wait staff has great personality.

  The food is simple and understated elegant. It was missing some notes though and at first our waiter seemed very snobby about our loud kids.
  
  The margaritas are not offered blended and I like a blended Margie. The beans were full of flavor and I appreciate that I hate it when I get beans that taste like dirt, this was not the case at tamal. It was a bit pricey for the ingredients and the food being so simple.
  
  My husband said his tacos were just fabulous the kids had simple cheese quesadillas and the chips and salsa were absolutely delicious but I think we had to pay for them extra which is a bummer. They did have a smaller of salsas, though..
  
  None of them really stood out to me. It was so so. The decor is fun, the bathroom was small but clean. The waiter warmed up to me after he realized I checked in on yelp.

  Bland. What happened to this place? The best backyard chill zone, great bar,cool people ....bland food. We went back one more time thinking we could just have a few tacos with some great tequila ... guacamole was bland ... all three salsas were bland and the tacos !!!! Yikes !! We though we were in the twilight zone .
  
  I went back .... met some friends ....still bland. I guess thru don't read reviews

  This place has it all...sweet and modern inside and lovely back patio with blankets if it gets chilly. The margaritas, tacos, and fish can't be beat. Kid and gluten-free friendly. If you are in Fairfax for the weekend, do not miss this treasure.

  I love this place! Lovely, warm, friendly staff... amazing back patio! With a fire pit and succulent wall  (aka magical!!!)
  
  Amazing fun margaritas and cocktails :) I love going to Tamal for the feel of a mini vacation  our server Ned was a delight who took the time to talk Tequila with us- added fun bonus. And all the food is yummy and beautiful!
